Cin-City-Cycles was founded in 2013 by John Myers to provide an alternative to the mass produced trials bicycle frames available.

Charitable Selfishness

It was one of those selfish impulses that ends up benefitting many people: if he could build himself bike frames that he could trust, perhaps he could build frames that other people would trust and enjoy. And out of this notion, Cin-City-Cycles was born.

An obsession with bicycles

John Myers has been in the bicycle business off and on for more than 20 years. He began as a teenager in Chicago's south side suburbs, escaping home and school to ride BMX bikes with friends. This morphed into two types of jobs: in bike shops and on dirt tracks. He has wrenched in at least five different bike shops in three states; and raced with traveling BMX teams and, later, mountain biking teams, building and trueing wheels to augment his income.

Mechanical gifts

John has always loved bicycles; and has ridden BMX and Trials since he was 13. But he isn't just any trials rider. Many people who know John Myers will tell you that he can build anything, and he can fix anything. And with the exception of nuclear accelerators, it is probably true.

As an adult, John has for many years made his living as a Master-Certified Auto Mechanic, which for him also meant that he worked on rotary engines and cars with otherwise-intractible electrical problems; and he has helped Honda-obsessed tuner heads make their already-fast cars even faster. And cars were not exciting enough; he was compelled to learn everything he could about motorcycles, as well.

It also meant he has a lot of experience welding and grinding metal.

A changed bicycle landscape

A few years ago, John decided to get back into trials riding. To his chagrin, he discovered that most trials frames now come all the way from Europe; there were not many options in the USA. And according to John, "Seatless is no way to live. So I took a frame-building class (from Steve Garn at Brew Bikes in Boone, NC) and that's that."

That plus a lot of work, innovation and practice.
